When Buzz Marketing took a life of its own….

April 19, 2007

I bet many of you received the sms about closing pet shop in Joo Chiat. It was offering free dogs for adoption otherwise they will be put down within 24 hours. For those who were wondering if it was a hoax, well it was a half-truth blown out of proportion. No dogs were being put down nor were they free.

When you forward that type of sms or email to your friends for a clause or a great discount, you are part this marketing movement called buzz marketing. It is a cheap and effective way of informing your target market which doesn’t require visual cues.

This is intriguing to a marketing student how buzz marketing works in Singapore. Read the rest of this entry ?

KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid

April 16, 2007

The world is complex due to people wanting “face”. It is their way of seeking self-validation of being smart, complex, deep. In my opinion, they are a bunch of retards.

However, it is best to keep it simple with your sentence structure. The benefits are:

  1. The other party understand you.
  2. It takes others less time to get your point.
  3. People will be more interested in what you are typing.

If you are guilty of making things sound complex, just chant this mantra:

Keep It Simple Stupid….Keep It Simple Stupid….Keep It Simple Stupid….

Worst Types of Writing I have ever read:

  1. My past writings (Thank god I am improving)
  2. Email/ Blog from this dick who flamed me on his blog. I had to stop reading his email and insulting post because it was boring me to tears.
  3. My FIIM texbook by Anthony Saunders.

On Double Standards, Discrimination and Alot of Other Cock-ado-ado

April 16, 2007

I was reading through Nita’s blog and I realized that she and her sister were discriminated for a job and an overseas internship respectively. Nita is a close friend of mine and I am definitely not happy that she is treated like this.

As much as I like to just think that those organizations are making racial discrimination and it is their mistake of losing gems like Nita and her sis. I started to think about discrimination and  how justified to an extend it can be. Discrimination is a difficult topic to think about it requires one not to look only at the surface and also the underlying reasons. Hence I will be posting a few entries on my take on discrimination. It will take quite a while as it can be rather tiring for me.

I hope my dear readers will enjoy the following posts and please feel free to comment.

Written with Love,

Dominic

Additional Notes to add, Sorry..

January 7, 2007

With reference to my first post,
I forgot to add this fact…

My prof has this college mate who is a managing director of Morgan Stanley after working her ass off for close to a decade. Sadly she died on her office table. However here is the question: Is her funeral held in her workplace?

Will she be remembered as a martyr or just dumb?

Think about that
Here’s a good song for it.

New Post/Tough Life/Workplace Death

January 7, 2007

This is 2007 and I decided to start this year with a blog. If I am attached, I won’t be doing this. I will be starting the year with a big BANG, a few more during the year and especially the holidays. But since I am single and ONS is not to my advantage (read: physical appearance), I decided to just blog and let my dear friends know how I am living. So here’s to a great start!!!

So today I had a makeup class for one of my Finance modules and my well-experienced prof decided to make us do a presentation on globalised markets with only half hour of preparation. I was going…
